PAY FOR PERFORMANCE! PAY FOR PERFORMANCE!
Over the weekend I received a spam from an adult services provider that caught my attention:
PAY FOR PERFORMANCE!
What a great idea. While not completely across the concept, my assumption is that the premise is that a patron pays the establishment based on the level of value they receive from their experience.
If you have a business in this industry and are having a… hard time gaining market share, perhaps this concept if worth considering.
That being said, if we were providing guidance for this establishment, we’d suggest the following considerations. [Given that I received the spam, I have assumed that the target audience is extremely good looking, hilarious, psychologically unwell men]:
- Make sure the team understands the need to provide value emotionally as a priority. Unless the bloke is a freak, physical pleasure is unlikely to last an hour but emotional engagement can. Owning his emotions is the quickest way to owning his credit card.
- Provide a user guide to help the patron understand what “Performance” costs. In other words, provide a star rating chart to the patron in advance that provides recommended fees based on the level of performance received e.g.
- ⭐ – ⭐⭐ = $200
- ⭐⭐⭐ – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ = $350
- ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ = $500
- ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ = $750
- ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ = a Ferrari
- If two or more poor ratings are received from a patron inside a 12 month timeframe, they will be required to discuss this with the business owner and if a resolution cannot be found, they will be ineligible for this offer in the future.
- If the patron is the cause of poor performance, e.g., physical malfunction, overtly intoxicated, etc, the offer is void and standard fees apply.
- Cannot be combined with Groupon, Shop-a-Dockets or other existing offers.
Obviously this is a hypothetical scenario based on a business that probably doesn’t exist, but the takeaway is that regardless of how traditional, niche, or controversial an industry is, there are always ways and means to forge your own path and own your identity, irrespective of how saturated a marketplace may be.
